My name is Sandra Marek Behringer and I can't remember when I wasn't reading poems or trying to write them. And always I loved to share my work. I'm a poet and novelist who finds writing helps me to live more deeply as I consider the paths all of us take to find our way to God...all the joys and hurts, the people we love and the things we learn and sometimes lose and leave behind. Do you also write to capture the moment and understand the truth, beauty or pain you're experiencing?
Most of my life I've lived in Indiana and I always wanted to set a story in the beautiful southern part of the state. I created an imaginary town near Paoli and named it HAWKS CROSSING. After I wrote my first novel by that name, I followed the story of the family and friends
of Kate Brady with ELIZABETH'S DAUGHTERS and TESSA. Hope you'll give my trilogy a look. I've just completed my novel about an eleven year old Polish girl who was a medieval Polish King. Her name was Jadwiga and Pope John Paul II named her a saint. It's off to a publisher I'm hoping will be interested.
These poetic reflections reflect Catholic life with its emphasis on Eucharist, famlly, sacramental life and prayer, are paired with photos taken by my photographer husband, John Behringer. Some of my poems of the spirit, of love, Indiana and travel are included later in this website. Hope you'll read them. Please let me hear from you if you share a love of poetry and stories that explore ways in which we encounter God's reality in our lives. firstname.lastname@example.org
